Happy Friday Families!
The PARCC testing went very well. Your children all worked so hard! Thank you to everyone who came to the parent/teacher conferences. It is always such a wonderful opportunity to talk about your student’s progress and to let you know just how proud I am of them.
Here are the targets we are currently / planning on working to master over the next couple of weeks:
Literacy
* We are working on summarizing an info/explanatory text.
* We are also working on explaining the relationships between two or more individuals, events, ideas, or concepts in a historical text.
Writing
* We are working on writing opinion pieces. The students will be using a text to support their ideas and opinions. We are concentrating on transitions and leads/hooks.
Math:
* We are working on converting among different-sized standard measurement units within a given measurement system, and using these conversions in solving multi-step real world problems.
* We are also working on measuring volumes by counting unit cubes, using cubic cm, cubic in, cubic ft, and improvised units.
Social Studies:
* We are working on describing how indentured servitude affected the growth of the English colonies.
* We are also working on describing how slavery affected the growth of the English colonies.
